Highland Kitty
Kitty's mother, Florence, began teaching her Highland Dance at the age of three. Her mother was her primary teacher throughout her competitive years, but she also took lessons from many other teachers - Irene Baird from Canada, Lynn Dickson Abbott from Australia, and Anna Bain from Scotland.
Kitty began competing in Highland Dance when she was 5 years old. Her years studying and training as a young girl with the Minnesota Dance Theater contributed greatly to her success in Highland.
By the end of her competitive dancing years, Kitty had won several championships in the United States; as well as Canada and Scotland:
For over 20 years Kitty has been teaching Highland Dance with her mother. Florence was herself and competitive dancer and a recent member of the FUSTA Hall of Fame.
Both Florence and Kitty are SOBDH certified teachers and adjudicators. Together their partnership has developed many successful competitive dancers and champions.
